Injury Report

Unfortunately, “Injury Report” has to be the title of a post on this website with three Vitamin Cottage riders involved in serious incidents over the past several weeks.

Vic Williams was involved in a serious crash during the Independence Grand Prix Track racing event in Colorado Springs on July 4th. Vic is currently recovering in the Intensive Care Unit at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs.  Well wishes can be sent to Vic via an E-Greeting at www.memorialhospital.com.  More information is available at http://forum.colorado-velodrome.org.

Dean Mason collapsed from a heart attack in the first stage of the Dead Dog Classic – Masters 45+ race. Dean was taken to the hospital were an operation was performed to correct the condition that caused the heart attack.  Dean is at home recovering after a stay in the hospital and is reportedly already planning his return to the bike.   Dean posted a nice thank you on the local race forum.

Finally, a car running a red light in Boulder hit Jon Tarkington while he was crossing the intersection on his bike.  Jon suffered a number of cuts and bruises in addition to injuries to both hands.  Jon has a cast on both hands / arms. His right hand is required to be in a cast for 10-12 weeks, which means Jon’s 2006 road season is effectively over.   Check out Jon’s blog for more details.

The Vitamin Cottage team wishes a speedy recovery to Vic, Dean and Jon.
