McCarthy / Vitamin Cottage solid in Wyoming and elsewhere

Vitamin Cottage's Christian McCarthy took a solid road race win this past weekend in Laramie, WY at the Dead Dog Classic Stage Race.  McCarthy held the overall race lead in the pro-1-2 event until Sunday's final time trial stage where Scott Nydam (Rio Grande/Sports Garage) took back enough time to clip McCarthy for the overall victory.  Not bad for Christian considering he was riding a borrowed TT bike...borrowed literally moments before his time trial ride.  Christian finished second overall and Jon Tarkington also had a solid ride in the three-stage event to finish fourth overall.

Other notable VC results in the Dead Dog Classic included Beth Fisk's 4th overall in the women's pro-1-2 event, Bill Herwig's criterium victory (masters 45+), and Lance Loehding's criterium victory (masters 35+ cat 4).

The Vitamin Cottage team also made its presence felt in two other states this past weekend.  Jon Baker and Joe Pinkerton had solid rides in the Tour De Nez in Nevada.  Baker  two top-20 finishes in a field stacked with many of the country's top pros http://www.cyclingnews.com/photos.php?id=/photos/2006/jun06/tourdenez06/tourdenez064/Tour_de_Nez-1_127.  Meanwhile, Chuck Coyle had a very respectable ride in the Rochester, NY twilight criterium.  Coyle finished among a 40-man field that started out with 102 riders.
