Jon Tarkington outsprinted his breakaway companions to finish second behind solo winner Greg Henderson (Healthnet-Maxxis) in the Annual Storage Tek Coal Miners Classic. Chuck Coyle and Christian McCarthy finished 7th and 9th respectively.
The Rocky Mountain Omnium held overy Memorial Day weekend saw Vitamin Cottage men’s and women’s team elite riders all over the podium all weekend long. In the men’s race, Jon Tarkington finished 2nd in the opening time trial, third in the difficult stage 2 criterium, and 9th in the final downtown Golden Criterium for an overall 2nd place Omnium Placing. Chuck Coyle narrowly missed the victory finishing second in the Golden Criterium, which doubled as the Colorado State Criterium Championship. Jason Donald (Team Einstien’s) took the overall and the State Criterium Championship. Other notable VC finishes in the State Championship included Christian McCarthy (6th), Joe Pinkerton (12th) and Sean Bragstad (19th)
In the women’s omnium race, Beth Fisk, Carmen Small, and Renee Eastman finished 2nd, 3rd, and 8th overall. Carmen Small won both criteriums, the second of which makes Carmen the 2006 Colorado State Criterium Champion. Fisk finished 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in the three-stage event.
