Vic Williams Three-Peats at Master Track Nationals

Vic Williams successfully defended his pursuit crown at the Masters National Track Championships held at Major Taylor Velodrome in Indianapolis, IN.   He rode the 40-44 3km in 2:45 to defeat his closest challenger by almost three seconds.  He also earned a silver medal in the Kilo by posting a time of 1:12.6. 

 

Brent Hanlin came home with 2 individual medals as well.  Brent completed the 35-39 Kilo in 1:11.2 which was good for the bronze in that race.  He also rode an aggressive points race which landed him in 5th.

 

Bruce Hitchcock also competed in the 40-44 pursuit event and got 11th to go with his 6th in the points race. 

 

Renee Eastman rode a tight race in her pursuit and ended up 2nd by a slim margin of 0.13seconds.   She added two more bronze medals to her collection in the points race and sprints along with a 5th in the 500m TT.

 

Jeff Paul had the daunting task of going up against a stacked field in the 45-49 group.  His 01:15.2 Kilo earned him 8th in that event and a 03:58.5 earned him 12th in the pursuit.  Aggressive riding in the points race earned him 15th in that event.

 

The team events were held on the final day of competition.  The team competed in the Team Sprint for 7th and the team pursuit for 5th.  In the crowd favorite, the Madison, Jeff Paul and Bruce Hitchcock rode to a 6th place in “The toughest race they have done all year.”

 

Overall, the team finished 6th in the BAT (Best All Around Team) competition against a field of 84 registered teams.
